A 1.15-km park running along the beach of south-central Phu Yen province is expected to give the emerging tourist destination a boost upon completion. The park will cover 6 ha along Doc Lap Street in Tuy Hoa city, the provincial capital, with the main attraction being three pedestrian paths and a 4,500 sq m playground paved with granite and basalt. The VND68.5 billion ($3.06 million) park will also feature sculptures and artistic lighting, as well as a parking lot.
Phu Yen, the easternmost province on Vietnam’s mainland, emerged as a new tourist destination among local people with the release of the movie ‘Toi Thay Hoa Vang Tren Co Xanh’ (Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass) in 2015. It boasts beautiful beaches and Ghenh Da Dia, which has unique basalt columns only found in four places in the world: Phu Yen, Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland, Los Órganos in Spain, and Fingal in Scotland.
