The Guide Awards 2017 an adventure in quality

The Guide Awards originated from the idea of the marketing team at The Guide in 1999 and 2000. A survey was held at the time to collect opinions from readers of The Guide and representatives of hotels, resorts, restaurants and shops in Hanoi and HCMC for the purpose of identifying and developing the strengths of the magazine. At the end of the survey, the Editorial Board of Vietnam Economic Times decided to hold an annual awards program, called The Guide Awards, to honour excellent businesses in the tourism sector.

Seventeen years later, The Guide Awards have become firmly established as a popular and sought-after prize by all in the industry. They are for organisations with outstanding performance in Vietnam’s tourism and hospitality sector and ultimately support a quality-based economy.

The Awards are presented by The Guide magazine and Vietnam Economic Times, which have sought out and written about the best hotels, restaurants and resorts and also less-obvious products and services for tourists and expats in Vietnam.

Accompanying Vietnam’s tourism industry during regional and international integration, The Guide Awards have been by the side of businesses through the ups and downs of the economy in general and the tourism industry in particular. The Awards also provide opportunities for businesses operating in the field of tourism to meet, exchange, and connect. They also provide timely recognition of remarkable achievements by organisations and enterprises that have made great efforts and positive contributions to the development of Vietnam’s tourism industry.

No targets or plans can be achieved or carried out if the parties involved do not share a common goal. Therefore, no one other than organisations and enterprises directly operating tourist activities and services and the media units who publish information and connect people can play an important role, together with assigned State agencies, in implementing set plans and targets successfully.

The Guide Awards presentation ceremony is held in September every year, to honour entrepreneurs who have worked hard throughout year to provide quality products and services.

This year, five organisations will receive ‘Green Lotus’ certification for their achievements in conservation, landscape construction, and environmental protection. Of particular note, ten other enterprises will receive a ‘Top 10 Most Favoured Businesses’ certificate for their significant efforts in the past.

For those interested in The Guide Awards, nomination forms are inserted inside The Guide’s monthly issue and on its fanpage at www.facebook.com/Theguidevietnam. The forms provide space for comments, but if you have more to say, please email The Guide at info.theguide@tbkt.vn, or otherwise contact us and be interviewed.
