Moroccan magic

The cool combination of colours weaves its way through the many contemporary pieces of furniture bearing geometric Islamic patterns as well as wall-art and table settings, while a giant glass door leads to the fantastic courtyard.

Chaouen is not only a Moroccan-style lounge bar serving cocktails, coffee, craft beer, ciders, shisha (in various flavours), smoothies, and juices, but also features a small but varied menu of food to share, like Lamb Tagine, at VND370,000, Chicken Tagine at VND260,000 and Vegetarian Tagine at VND200,000. All are served in a Moroccan clay pot with Moroccan couscous, flat bread and yoghurt. These ‘Tagines with Couscous’ dishes are the best in town, according to some foodies, and the hearty one-pot meals flavoured with fragrant spices are cooked and served from an elegant, specially-designed cooking vessel.

You can order from Chaouen Lounge via or come in and pick up some take-away. The chef/owner is a well-travelled Portuguese who created the menu and teaches a Vietnamese team in the kitchen. Happy Hour is from 2pm to 6pm daily, with reduced prices on food and drinks.

Open from Sunday to Thursday from 2pm until 11pm, and from Friday to Saturday from 2pm until midnight. Closed Monday and Tuesday.
