AWAY FROM IT ALL

Most expats and hip Vietnamese sooner or later gravitate to the Cocoon Café & Lounge. As its name suggests, the cosy lounge offers a romantic ambience and tastefully artistic décor, with outstanding views overlooking Hanoi’s old streets. Located at the corner of Nguyen Du and Yet Kieu Streets, the ‘little piece of heaven’ has a 500 sq m space in a three-storey French colonial villa. The owner, a lover of Hanoi, wishes to turn his place into a cocoon, where he and his guests can hide from the hustle and bustle of the capital.

The first floor of Cocoon is a trendy café, where the black and white a half ceramic-half wooden floor makes a strong impressive on guests as they walk through the door. Sitting next to an open Nordstrom-style window while admiring the peaceful streets outside or the precious collection of paintings of the 20th century and contemporary painters is especially pleasing.

The second floor is a restaurant with seating for 100 guests and a ten-seat VIP room, serving authentic Vietnamese and fusion Western cuisine. Prices range from VND68,000 to VND368,000 per dish. Happy hour is from 3pm to 5pm daily, with 20% off its cakes.

For a group of friends who wish to get together in privacy, Cocoon’s third floor has attic rooms where people can enjoy wine with an Italian style cold plater, cigars, and shisha.
