  • Ninh Thuan promotes tourism environment

    An action plan entitled ‘Clean Tourism Environment Year 2016’ has been announced recently by authorities in the south-central coastal province of Ninh Thuan to further promote local tourism and attract more visitors. The plan includes practical solutions such as checking and treating waste at tourist sites, regularly checking and strictly handling fraud by local tourism businesses, preventing beggars and vendors from harassing tourists, and issuing a code of conduct for tourists. The province also regularly organises activities to clean up the environment and plant trees to improve the urban landscape, together with ensuring security and traffic safety, to build an image of a safe, civilised and friendly.

    KATE Festival 2016

    The Cham ethnic minority people, followers of the Balamon religion, in south-central Ninh Thuan province will shortly hold their traditional Kate Festival, their biggest annual festival. This year the Kate Festival will be held at the Cham Temples and Towers around Phan Rang city, such as Po Inu Nugar in Huu Duc hamlet, Po Rome in Hau Sanh hamlet, and Po Klong Giarai in Vinh Do ward. Visitors can learn the rituals of ceremonial dress, see a palanquin procession taking the costumes of the Goddess from the yard to the main tower, the rituals of opening the tower, bathing at the altar of Linga - Yoni, costumes and, finally, the main ritual.

    The festival also features a Cham traditional fashion show, Cham folk dancing, traditional Cham cuisine, handicraft products, and folk games. Cham artisans will play traditional Cham musical instruments such as Ka Nhi, Ghi-nang drums and Baranung drums.
