Dong Nai Tourism, a smart tourism app, was launched recently by the Dong Nai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The app provides users with information on popular tourist destinations and products and services in the southern province, including 125 resorts, restaurants, shopping venues, travel agents, and amusement parks, etc. It offers useful functions such as bookings, trip suggestions, smart maps in both Vietnamese and English, and currency exchange rates, etc. It also updates promotions and events in the local area and can receive feedback. The app aims to better serve tourists to the province and promote local tourism, and is also expected to be a channel for local enterprises to

conduct market surveys to offer attractive products and services.

  • CNG-powered buses introduced in Dong Nai

Compressed natural gas (CNG) buses are now being operated around southern Dong Nai province by the Sonadezi Transport Corporation, in a project aimed at meeting the increasing demand for public vehicles among the province’s growing population at new industrial zones while limiting exhaust emissions. The project, which is licensed until 2020, will cost more than VND630 billion ($30 million). This year the company will buy 162 new CNG-powered buses and build two CNG filling stations. From 2016 to 2020 it will buy 393 more buses and build five more CNG filling stations. This year more than 22 million passengers will use public transport in the province and by 2020 the figure will be more than 32 million. Local transport infrastructure is unable to cope with demand, creating traffic jams during rush hour, traffic accidents, and environmental pollution.
