The city will also welcome the international clipper team and hold numerous other events, including an international tourism fair and the Asian Beach Games.

  • Map of central coast tourism products available

A technical report and a map of regional tourism product development for the central coast have been launched by the European Union-funded Environmentally and Socially Responsible Tourism Capacity Development Programme (EU-ESRT), aimed at enhancing destination management and marketing efforts in the three cities and provinces of Danang, Thua Thien Hue, and Quang Nam to develop tourism products to regional levels. It analyses the current situation of regional tourism and identifies and assesses priority tourism products for connecting within the region. The map and the report in both Vietnamese and English can be found at http://esrt.vn/upload/bandoduyenhaimientrung.zip . The EU-ESRT program will continue designing technical reports for regional tourism product development in priority areas, including eight north-western provinces and three Mekong Delta localities.

The visual guide includes 12 friendly, well-designed photos in a pocket handbook for both local people and visitors. For example, tourists are required to respect local culture and traditions, be environmentally conscious, queue up in public spaces, and prioritise women and children, while local people must not solicit tourists.

  • Free water for tourists in Danang

Danang’s Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism will offer free water to local people and tourists under a pilot project aimed at providing better services and information to tourists. Four water stations will be installed along Bach Dang Street, in front of Con market, on Hung Vuong Street, and by the seaside on Vo Nguyen Giap Street, and open eight hours a day. Brochures and maps will be also given out for free at the water stations during 2016.

Danang and surrounds have plenty to see but myriad construction sites point towards a different type of city in the future.

  • Central provinces join hands for tourism development

The central tourism hubs of Thua Thien Hue, Danang and Quang Nam will co-operate to further boost their tourism development through a ‘Three Localities, One Destination’ campaign. The three will jointly attend international fairs in Hanoi, HCMC, Japan, and Germany to promote the region. They will jointly set up a tourism website, a map and a handbook for the region, adopt a common slogan and logo, and build a common tourism database on the hotel market and projects calling for investment. Hue will focus more on the Chan May-Lang Co tourism site and more tourism services in rural areas and lagoons, taking advantage of the Huong River. Meanwhile, Quang Nam will develop more community and ecological tourism products. Maps showing local traditional handicraft villages will also be introduced to travellers.
