The 7th Coffee Festival got underway on March 9 in Buon Ma Thuot city in the central highlands’ Dak Lak province and will run until March 16, with a host of events being held at various venues.

On the morning of the first day, an exhibition entitled “The History of Coffee in the World” was opened at Trung Nguyen Legend’s 45-ha The World of Coffee Museum, featuring three themes: “The Origin of Coffee”, “Coffee and Religion”, and “Coffee and the Revolution of Technology”. The exhibition and the museum itself impressed those in attendance, with around 10,000 objects and items relating to coffee on display. The opening is the key event organized by Trung Nguyen Legend, the museum’s owner, at the festival, and will be on show until April 9.

On the same morning, on Phan Chu Trinh Street, the “Buon Ma Thuot Book and Coffee Street” was launched to introduce the richness of Dak Lak’s culture in particular and the central highlands’ in general and encourage a habit of reading among visitors and local people.

In the afternoon, a colorful and lively street festival was attended by thousands in the center of Buon Ma Thuot. Dancers, singers, and performers conveyed the dynamic vibe of Dak Lak in the age of global integration. Coffee farmers, planters, producers, and companies, together with local and international artisans, introduced the quintessential nature of Dak Lak coffee, which has conquered markets around the world and been a key element of the local economy.

Other activities to be held include the Vietnam Coffee Expo, an investment promotion forum to introduce the potential Dak Lak possesses, a photo exhibition entitled “44 years of Victory in Buon Ma Thuot - A Historical Journey”, the “Journey from the Heart 2019” program, a talent contest for farmers, and a conference on developing specialty Vietnamese coffee.

Dak Lak boasts the highest coffee yield and best quality coffee in Vietnam and much effort has been made to build Buon Ma Thuot into Vietnam’s coffee capital and a global coffee capital, creating an appealing destination for coffee lovers.

The seven-day festival is expected to attract tens of thousands of visitors. Trung Nguyen Legend, the most famous local coffee maker, plays an important role as diamond sponsor and director of the street festival.
