Another year has passed and the annual The Guide Awards 2017 were successfully held at the Novotel Phu Quoc Resort on Phu Quoc Island, with over 200 guests in attendance from all around Vietnam. This was the first time The Guide Awards have been held on Phu Quoc Island, known as Vietnam’s ‘Pearl Island’, with pristine beaches and smooth, white sandy coastlines.

This 18th holding of The Guide Awards were held on spectacularly beautiful and poetic Phu Quoc Island and were truly a valuable opportunity for tourism enterprises to meet together, network, and promote commitments and consensus towards the common goal of sustainable tourism development. Tourism development on Phu Quoc over recent years clearly reflects the attraction and robustness of tourism in Kien Giang province in particular and throughout Vietnam in general, illustrating the substantial potential for breakthroughs based on local advantages.

This year, with outstanding criteria ensuring green values and sustainable development, the Organising Board surveyed and consulted and collected comments and votes in recognising the 116 winners. The Organising Board believes that, with this recognition and encouragement, the winners will continue to improve and make more impressive achievements, contributing to the development of the tourism industry in particular and Vietnam’s economy in general.

‘The Top-Notch Resort of the Year’ awards were presented to the Amanoi Resort, An Lam Retreats Ninh Van Bay, Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, JW Mariott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay, Nam Nghi Phu Quoc Island, and Naman Retreat, not only due to their unique architectural styles but also their commitment to sustainable development and natural resource preservation. In the hotel category, ‘The Top-Notch Hotels of the Year’ awards were won by the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, The Reverie Saigon Hotel, Park Hyatt Saigon, and JW Marriott Hanoi.

The second level of The Guide Awards this year, ‘The Excellent Resorts of the Year’, were presented to 27 winners and 'Excellent Hotels of the Years' were received by 19 winners. The third level, ‘The Distinctive Resorts of the Year’ awards, had seven winners. At the same level, ‘The Outstanding Hotels of the Year’ awards had 15 winners

Awards were also presented to two ‘Excellent Apartments of the Year’: Somerset Serviced Residence (The Ascott Limited) and The Landmark - Serviced Apartments & Office Complex for Lease, while ‘The Excellent Restaurants of the Year 2017’ awards went to 18 winners. ‘The Excellent Tours, Transport, Shops & Spas’ awards, meanwhile, were picked up by 18 winners.
