Seven of the ten wards in HCMC’s District 1 will open new ‘food streets’ on footpaths. Those on Nguyen Thi Nghia Street (Ben Thanh ward) and Nguyen Thai Hoc Street in front of Ernst Thälmann High School (Pham Ngu Lao ward) will be the first in the project. The stretches of footpath are extensive, at 8-10 metres wide. The move aims to create jobs for street vendors while not affecting the city’s tourism or taking space from pedestrians. The city put into operation street food areas on the footpaths of Nguyen Van Chiem Street and in Bach Tung Diep Park in District 1 in September, open from 6am to 9am and 10am to 2pm every day.

The Ariyana Convention Centre’s recent opening marks a milestone for Danang’s MICE sector. The three-storey beachfront convention centre boasts 12 multifunctional rooms, three of which can be split into multiple spaces. The largest is the Ariyana Grand Ballroom, a massive 2,079 sq m pillarless hall with a nine-metre-high ceiling that can seat 2,500 people in a theatre setting or be divided into four smaller spaces. Besides the high-profile APEC events hosted last November, Ariyana Convention Centre has also secured a tradeshow in March, with 200 booths and conferences for 900 people, and two incentive groups of 2,000 people each in May - one from the US and the other from Malaysia. Ariyana Convention Centre is one of the four properties within the Ariyana Tourism Complex, which also includes the luxury Furama Resort Danang, Furama Villas Danang, and the International Convention Palace.
