Several air routes from central Da Nang city to and from Southeast Asian countries have been rolled out by various airlines this year, promising an increasing number of visitors to the city in the future.

In December, Malindo Air from Malaysia launched a direct route to and from Kuala Lumpur with three weekly flights. The frequency will raise to six flights a week within the next few weeks, before the carrier operates daily flights from January 20. Earlier, low-cost airline Air Asia opened Kuala Lumpur - Da Nang flights, with a frequency of 14 a week.

Singaporean carrier Silk Air also ferries passengers to and from Da Nang each day, while the Singapore-based Jetstar Asia ferries passengers to and from the central city on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Thailand’s Air Asia and local carrier Vietjet Air, meanwhile, are operating Bangkok - Da Nang flights, with a frequency of 21 per week. The Chiang Mai (Thailand) - Da Nang service operated by Air Asia and the Da Nang - Jakarta route launched by Sriwijaya Air are also among new routes rolled out this year.

Southeast Asia is one of five major source markets where the city will boost its promotional activities in 2020, according to the Da Nang Center for Tourism Promotion. These new air routes will promote visits not only to the city but also nearby tourist destinations in the central region, such as Hue and Hoi An ancient town.

Azerai (www.azerai.com) has announced that the opening of Azerai Ke Ga Bay, a luxurious and secluded oceanfront retreat on Vietnam’s southern coast, is set for early 2020; the third property within Azerai Resorts’ growing portfolio. The 57-room resort, which will succeed Princess D’Annam Resort & Spa on the same site following a six-month renovation, is located 180 km east of Ho Chi Minh City on a sweeping 5-km white sand beach on the East Sea. Framed to the north by Hon Ba Island, with its historic 1899-built colonial French lighthouse, and to the south by soaring sand dunes, the property cultivates one of the most naturally-splendid oceanfront settings in the country. The guest rooms, suites, and villas at Azerai Ke Ga Bay evoke a contemporary aesthetic defined by an elegant and simple design, with 21 units boasting either plunge pools or more spacious private pools. The resort’s three villas are generously proportioned at 360 sq m and complemented by private pools.
